The Airport Bus Between Suvarnabhumi and Pattaya

Roong Reuang and Transport Co. coaches in both directions, where they stop, what luggage costs, and the bus from Don Mueang.

The airport bus from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya is run by Roong Reuang Coach (route 389) from its counter on Level 1, Gate 8. In October 2026 a seat costs 158 THB to Jomtien, with a bus every hour from 06:00 to 22:00, or 135 THB to Pattaya Bus Station in North Pattaya, seven times a day from 07:30 to 18:30. Roong Reuang’s route page puts the ride at about 2 hours, depending on traffic, and one suitcase up to 20 kg goes free. Going back, buses leave Jomtien every hour from 06:00 to 22:00 and drop you on the departures level at Suvarnabhumi.

This page covers the bus in both directions, plus the bus from Don Mueang. To weigh the bus against a taxi, Grab or a private car, see the full Bangkok Airport to Pattaya comparison.

  • Where: Level 1, the floor below arrivals, at Gate 8.
  • Price: 158 THB to Jomtien, 135 THB to North Pattaya, with no child fares.
  • Last bus: 22:00. If you land after about 20:00, book a private transfer to Pattaya instead.
  • Book ahead: the operator says seats usually sell out at least an hour before departure.

Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya bus timetable and fares

Two Roong Reuang routes leave from the same Gate 8 counter. The Jomtien bus runs every hour and stops twice in Pattaya on the way. The cheaper Pattaya Bus Station bus runs seven times a day and ends at the North Pattaya terminal.

The operator’s timetable says the 22:00 departure ends at Pattaya Bus Station and does not continue to Jomtien. If you are staying in Jomtien and catch that bus, plan a short Bolt or taxi ride from the terminal.

Other buses from Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya

  • Transport Co. (Bor Kor Sor, the “999” bus). The government operator launched a Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya route on 8 March 2025 at 122 THB, with four round trips a day, according to the Bangkok Post. The first timetable left the airport at 07:30, 11:30, 13:30 and 17:30, with tickets sold at a pink counter by Gate 8 on Level 1. The fare has moved with diesel prices in 2026: THAIest reported a rise to 139 THB, BusOnlineTicket listed the route at 135 THB in October 2026, and some dates showed only the 07:30 and 13:30 trips. It stops on Sukhumvit Road, not at the beach, so check the current timetable on tcl99web.transport.co.th before you plan around it.
  • Bell Travel Service, a shared coach with a hotel drop. Bell is Roong Reuang’s door-to-door service. Its coach leaves Gate 8 at 08:30, 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30 and 18:00, and in Pattaya you change to a minivan that takes you to your hotel. 12Go user reviews report paying 300 THB from the airport and 460 THB for the return, both with the hotel shuttle, plus a 50 THB luggage fee. The booking page shows the final price.

How to catch the bus at Suvarnabhumi, step by step

  1. Clear immigration and baggage claim. Roong Reuang estimates about an hour. A long-haul arrival wave can take longer, so do not book a bus less than about 2 hours after landing.
  2. Leave arrivals on Level 2 and go down one floor to Level 1, by the escalators or lifts inside the terminal. Follow the signs for public transport and buses.
  3. Walk to Gate 8. The Pattaya and Hua Hin counters stand by the doors, with Roong Reuang, Bell Travel and the pink Transport Co. counter close together.
  4. Buy or check in. Walk-ins pay at the counter. If you booked online, show the confirmation on your phone (no printout needed) and collect your seat ticket. The operator asks you to be at the counter at least 15 minutes before departure.
  5. Tag your bag and board from the bays just outside Gate 8. Tell the driver which stop you want.

Where the airport bus stops in Pattaya

According to Roong Reuang, the Jomtien bus makes two drop-offs before its terminal. Neither route runs along Beach Road, so almost everyone needs a short onward ride.

Last-mile costs, October 2026: since 10 April 2026, shared songthaew (baht bus) rides on Pattaya’s fixed routes cost 15 to 20 THB depending on route and distance, according to Pattaya Mail (11 April 2026), which called it the first fare rise in more than 30 years. Songthaew drivers waiting at the North Pattaya terminal usually ask about 50 THB per person to drop you at your hotel. A Bolt or Grab from the bus stops to Beach Road usually costs about 80 to 120 THB. Motorbike taxis cost less, but not with a suitcase.

The North Pattaya terminal is about 2 km from Beach Road, and Jomtien Bus Station sits between Pattaya and Jomtien Beach, about 4 km south of Walking Street. Neither is a comfortable walk with luggage in the heat.

The Roong Reuang coaches drop you on Level 4 (Departures), opposite Door 8, so you can walk straight to check-in.

How early to leave Pattaya for your flight

The bus takes about 2 hours, but Motorway 7 gets heavy on Sunday afternoons and public-holiday evenings, when weekenders head back to Bangkok. For an international flight, leave Pattaya about 5 hours before departure; for a domestic flight, about 4 hours. Add the time it takes to reach the bus station from your hotel: from Naklua, Pratumnak or the far end of Jomtien, allow 45 to 60 minutes extra. For a flight before about 09:00, even the 06:00 bus leaves too late, so book a car. Flying out of Don Mueang instead? See Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang and the Don Mueang section below.

Booking, tickets and luggage rules

Online or at the counter: Roong Reuang’s official booking site, linked from airportpattayabus.com, takes credit cards and QR PromptPay. The operator recommends booking ahead because buses usually sell out about an hour before departure. Resellers such as 12Go and BusOnlineTicket sell the same seats for about 168 to 233 THB, which is 10 to 75 THB over the counter price. At the Gate 8 counter you can pay in cash, so keep some baht handy.

The name on your booking must match your passport, and there are no child or senior discounts. Children under 2 ride free on a lap; anyone older needs a full ticket.

Refunds and changes: Roong Reuang tickets are non-refundable. The airport’s listing of the operator’s rules says date or time changes must be made at least 2 days ahead, for a 30 THB fee.

If your flight is late and you miss the bus, go to the Gate 8 counter. Staff move you to the next bus with free seats for 50 THB per person, according to the operator’s FAQ. At busy times that can mean waiting an hour or more.

Luggage: each passenger may bring one checked bag up to 20 kg, carried in the hold, and one small personal bag. The overhead racks are very small. Extra or heavier items cost more, according to the operator’s published fee table:

ItemFee
Extra bag under 20 kg20 THB
Bag 21 to 30 kg50 THB
Bag 31 to 50 kg, or a standard golf bag100 THB
Small or large baby stroller50 or 100 THB
Bicycle, large golf bag, TV200 THB
Surfboard300 THB

Ask for a receipt and a bag tag for any fee you pay. Pets, alcohol and strong-smelling food are not allowed on board.

Don Mueang Airport to Pattaya bus

If you land at Don Mueang, Transport Co. runs a direct bus to Pattaya. It takes longer than the Suvarnabhumi service because it crosses Bangkok. Terminal details are in the Don Mueang Airport guide.

The airport page and the booking systems give different fares, so expect to pay between 155 and 167 THB. Like the Suvarnabhumi 999 bus, it drops you on Sukhumvit Road, about 2 km from the beach, so budget for a Bolt or a songthaew.

Practical tips

  • Book ahead in high season (roughly November to February), at Songkran in April and on long weekends.
  • Friday evenings southbound and Sunday afternoons northbound add time on Motorway 7.
  • There is no food stop, so buy water and snacks in the terminal before you board.
  • Bring a layer. Many passengers find the air-conditioning on board very cold.
  • Check your bag weight. Some travelers report being asked for an extra 20 THB luggage fee, especially from Jomtien, and you can ask for a receipt.
  • Stopping in Bangkok first? The Airport Rail Link guide covers the train into the city.

A family of four on the Jomtien bus pays 632 THB in fares. Add a Bolt or songthaew at the other end, a possible wait at Gate 8 and fees for strollers or extra bags, and the gap to a private car narrows. The Golden Dragon private transfer, rated 4.52 from 329 reviews, was $44.60 for a sedan for up to three and $68.40 for a van for up to nine when we checked on 12 October 2026, tolls included. Private transfer listings estimate 1.2 to 1.7 hours to your hotel. For three or more people, price the car before you buy bus seats. The Bangkok Airport to Pattaya page compares the private options, and the Bangkok airport taxi guide explains public-taxi rules.

Is the bus right for you?

Your situationOur suggestion
Solo or a couple, light bags, landing between 08:00 and 20:00Take the bus; it costs least.
Staying in Jomtien, near Jomtien Second RoadThe 158 THB Jomtien bus ends close to you.
Staying in North Pattaya or Naklua, daytime arrivalThe 135 THB bus to Pattaya Bus Station, then a short songthaew
Landing after about 20:00 or before 05:00A private transfer; the last bus leaves at 22:00.
Family with children, strollers or three or more suitcasesA private transfer; there are no child fares and bag fees add up.
Group of three or morePrice a private car; the cost per person comes close.
Hotel in Pratumnak, far Jomtien or Wong AmatA private transfer, or Bell Travel for a hotel drop
Early-morning flight out of BKKA private car; the first Jomtien bus leaves at 06:00.

For a solo traveler or a couple with light bags landing in daylight, the bus costs 135 to 158 THB, takes about 2 hours and runs every hour to Jomtien. It suits you less if you land late, travel with children, carry several suitcases or stay well away from the stops; then a OTO Trip private transfer to Pattaya, with 2 hours of free waiting at the airport, takes you to your hotel door at a fixed price. What we checked

Timetables, fares, stops, baggage and refund rules were checked in October 2026 against Roong Reuang Coach’s official site and FAQ (airportpattayabus.com), the Bell Travel shared-transfer timetable, and the Airports of Thailand transport pages for Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang. Launch details for the Transport Co. route come from the Bangkok Post (four round trips, 122 THB) and Pattaya Mail (12 March 2025, boarding point opposite the Father Ray Foundation); later fares from 2026 booking-platform listings (BusX, BusOnlineTicket, 12Go); and the songthaew fare change from Pattaya Mail and The Pattaya News in April 2026. Golden Dragon and OTO Trip prices are real-date checks for two adults on 12 October 2026. Schedules and prices change, so reconfirm with the operator before you travel.
