From the Arrivals Hall to Your Hotel

Decide between an airport hotel and the city, then book the shuttle or the car before you fly.

  1. Count your nights

One night between flights points to a hotel at the airport you leave from. Two or more nights point to a hotel in the city.

  2. Check the shuttle terms

Read the direction, hours and price. A free shuttle can be drop-off only, hourly, or need a booking.

  3. Send your flight number

Email the hotel, or the transfer operator, your flight number at least 24 hours ahead.

  4. Go to the right gate

Each hotel and the transfer desk uses its own gate on the arrivals level. Save it offline before you land.

Airport Hotel Shuttles at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang

Free, paid and drop-off-only shuttles, the transit hotel, capsules and day rooms, with what each costs against a city hotel.

For a free shuttle you can count on at any hour, three Suvarnabhumi hotels stand out: the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, which you can also walk to, the Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (hourly, book ahead) and the Siam Mandarina Hotel (from Gate 5). At Don Mueang, the Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok sits across a footbridge from Terminal 1. Many “free shuttle” hotels around the airports only drive you to the airport, run a few fixed times or charge per person, so read the terms before you book. If you are staying in the city instead, a pre-booked car from Suvarnabhumi was $31.96 for up to two when we checked on 12 October 2026.

How airport hotel shuttles work in Bangkok

At Suvarnabhumi, hotel shuttles meet guests on the arrivals level (Level 2), at a hotel counter or at a numbered gate or curbside sign. Each hotel uses its own spot, so screenshot the instructions from your confirmation before you fly. You clear immigration and customs first; landside hotels cannot be reached from the transit area.

Shuttles come in three kinds:

  • 24 hours with a counter: you go to the hotel desk in the arrivals hall and a van takes you across. The Hyatt Regency works this way.
  • Scheduled, often hourly: the van leaves at set times. The Courtyard runs hourly and needs a booking. If you land at 00:05, you may wait close to an hour.
  • Drop-off only or limited times: the hotel drives you to the airport a few times a day but will not collect you, or it charges per person. This is the most common catch.

After midnight: an hourly 24-hour shuttle can still leave you waiting 45 to 60 minutes in the arrivals hall. If you are exhausted, traveling with children or carrying a lot of luggage, a taxi or a pre-booked car waiting when you land can be worth the money. Our Bangkok airport taxi guide explains the rank and the fares.

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

This is the only hotel on the airport site and the one to pick when every minute counts. Booking.com lists a free 24/7 airport shuttle from the hotel’s counter next to Gate 4 in the arrivals hall, on the 2nd floor. You can also walk through the air-conditioned underground passage from the terminal’s basement level, about 5 minutes. Its most useful feature for a stopover is the 24-hour stay: the listing lets you check in at any time and check out 24 hours later. The hotel also sells day-use rooms in 4-, 6- and 8-hour blocks during the day; ask for the current rate, because published figures vary. It does not run a shuttle to Don Mueang. Use the AOT bus from Level 2, Gate 3.

Courtyard by Marriott Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

The Courtyard is a newer resort-style hotel in Lat Krabang with a large outdoor pool. Its shared shuttle is free and runs 24 hours, but it runs hourly and you must book a seat ahead. Pickup is at curbside Signboard No. 8 on the arrivals level: leave baggage claim, cross to the road and look for the van marked with the hotel’s name. Book by email, by phone (+66 2 780 3588) or through Marriott Bonvoy chat. The hotel also sells a “Flexi Stay” package if you need odd hours.

Siam Mandarina Hotel

Siam Mandarina’s own shuttle page promises a free 24-hour service and a 15 to 20 minute ride. The meeting point is Level 2, Gate 5, where a driver holds a hotel sign; call the hotel on +66 2 738 8191 to confirm the next departure before you leave the arrivals hall. The hotel also sells short day-use stays, with the shuttle included.

Read the small print: “free shuttle” names

Several Lat Krabang hotels put “Free Shuttle” in their listing names, and the terms vary. The Canalis Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel offers a free scheduled shuttle from the hotel to the airport only, and one reviewer reported a paid shuttle; Travelocity has shown a 350 THB per person one-way airport fee. The Eastin Thana City Golf Resort still names a free shuttle to Suvarnabhumi in its Booking.com title, while the same page says the shuttle is suspended. The wording usually means free to the airport, not from it, so check direction, hours and price. The Mariya Boutique Residence was not on Booking.com when we checked; the stays near Suvarnabhumi in Lat Krabang search shows what else is open for your dates.

The Boxtel @ Suvarnabhumi Airport and the Avagard Capsule Hotel are the cheapest private sleep at Suvarnabhumi, both landside beside the Airport Rail Link. Boxtel’s listing gives 24-hour check-in, so you can arrive at any hour.

The Miracle Transit Hotel is the airside option for international connections, open 24 hours in the transit area. The operator’s site places it in Concourse A on the 3rd floor, while Sleeping in Airports still lists Concourse G, Floor 4, so follow the airside signs. Its pages list stays of 4 to 12 hours (Deluxe rooms from 6 hours, Standard rooms with a shared bathroom from 4 hours) without prices; Sleeping in Airports quotes from about 2,500 THB for 4 hours, so treat that as a rough guide. If your connection is domestic, or you are leaving the airport, you cannot use it. It is not on Booking.com, so book on the hotel’s own site.

Lounges are an alternative for a shorter gap. Showers are available in many of the Miracle and Coral lounges; they are airside and you get in through a lounge membership or your ticket class.

Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok

The Amari is the only full-service hotel linked to DMK, by a footbridge from Terminal 1’s 2nd floor between Gates 5 and 6, about a 7-minute walk. The hotel’s renovation notice says rooms are being renovated until 30 November 2026, a temporary bridge walkway has been open since 9 September, and a free round-trip shuttle between the hotel and the airport runs 24 hours on request. The hotel’s own FAQ still says it offers no airport transfers, so confirm the shuttle when you book. Luggage storage before check-in and after check-out is free. Standard check-in is 15:00 and check-out 12:00, so book the Day and Night Use offer (from 1,500 THB net for 4 hours; call +66 2 566 1020) if you only need a few hours. The Amari does not run a shuttle from Suvarnabhumi.

Other hotels near Don Mueang

Shuttle terms at the other DMK hotels are mostly drop-off only or paid. Sleep Box by Miracle needs no shuttle at all, because it is inside Terminal 2. The Don Muang Hotel runs a scheduled van from 04:30, for a small fee per person. The Mida Hotel Don Mueang Airport drops guests at the airport free at a few set times but does not collect them. 12 The Residence Hotel at Don Mueang Airport sits about 6 km away and charges for its shuttle. Confirm the time with the hotel before you rely on any of them for an early flight, or browse the stays near Don Mueang.

BKK ↔ DMK connections: where to sleep

If you land at BKK in the evening and fly from DMK the next morning, sleep at the departure airport: the Amari or Sleep Box at DMK. Morning traffic across Bangkok is the biggest risk to your connection.

  • Free AOT shuttle: from BKK Level 2, Gate 3, 05:00 to 24:00, every 30 minutes. It is only for passengers moving between the two airports, so show your onward ticket and passport. Allow about an hour, and up to twice that in rush hour. The last bus leaves at midnight, so a late arrival misses it.
  • Private car: door to door at any hour. The Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang private car is rated 4.43/5 from 31 reviews and sold per vehicle with tolls included. See Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang for times and prices.

Airport hotel vs city hotel: cost and time

What this means for your trip: a free shuttle saves you about 700 to 1,000 THB in taxis, or about $64 in private cars, across the two airport runs. That only pays off on a short stay. For two or more nights in Bangkok, the extra travel time from an airport hotel cancels out the saving. Our Suvarnabhumi Airport to Bangkok guide compares the rides into the city, and the guide to staying near Bangkok’s airports compares the city areas on the rail link.

When a private transfer is the better choice

The Suvarnabhumi to Bangkok hotel private car is rated 4.77/5 from 4,833 reviews. Its listing warns that hotels in the airport area may cost an extra 500 THB, so it suits a city hotel better than the airport ones above.

Tips before you book

  1. Reserve the shuttle by email or LINE with your flight number, even where the hotel says it is not required.
  2. Check direction and price. “Free shuttle” may mean drop-off only, or a fee per person.
  3. Check the frequency for your arrival time. An hourly van can mean a long wait at 01:00.
  4. Save the pickup gate and a 24-hour phone number offline.
  5. Ask about luggage storage, late check-out or a 24-hour stay before you pay for a second night.
  6. For an early departure, book the return van at check-in. Seats on scheduled vans run out.

Final word

For one night near the airport, a hotel with a 24-hour free shuttle or a walkway is the least stressful choice, and the Hyatt Regency and the Amari are the closest to their terminals. For anything longer, or if you are heading to Pattaya or Hua Hin, book a car before you fly, because the driver’s wait starts from your flight’s landing time.

What we checked

We opened each hotel’s Booking.com listing for its shuttle terms and checked the Siam Mandarina and Amari Don Muang official pages; the Hyatt, Courtyard and Don Muang Hotel sites blocked our checks, so their terms come from Booking.com and other booking sites. The AOT shuttle, taxi and limousine figures match our other airport guides. Shuttle terms change often, so confirm with the hotel before you travel.
